Katie's Owl Shower

My one and only sweet baby sister is having her first baby! I couldn't be more excited. I'm going to be an aunt for the first time to a precious little boy due in July.

So of course, being the proud aunt, I desperately wanted to throw Katie an amazing baby shower. She loves owls, so I went with a "Look Whoooo's Having a Baby Theme." I spent months researching ideas. Kara's Party Ideas was my greatest inspiration. Her blog has so many incredible parties and I highly recommend checking it out for your own parties! Anyway, after pouring through a hundred different parties and several other party sites, I felt ready to take on the challenge! I bought digital clipart owls from Cocoamint on Etsy.com and used them to make everything. Here is the final product, and some of the details below:

The food table:

Cupcakes were topped with chocolate icing and chocolate shavings. The stands were made from cardboard boxes I cut and painted and wrapped with ribbon from Michael's:

The food and beverage tables had these owls with signs, and you can see the paper hand cut leaves that I used on all the tables as well:
The beverage bar had personalized waters and punch (not made yet in this pic) and the plates were set on a decorate plate stand so we would have more table space.

The water bottles. The other side said "Baby Bowen Due 7/3/11"

The party favors were filled with jelly bellies and were placed in these nests all around the party rooms:

The gift area was fun. I liked the paper lanterns in here and in the food room because they really lit up and they were just from the dollar store! The garlands were made with the same paper as the leaves on the tables.

My very first diaper cake!
Oh yeah, and here are the invitations I sent out, plus a few of the cupcake picks up close:

We also played the matching game where each match gets a candy bar (like matching "breastfeeding" cards gets you a milky way) but no one got pics! We had owls on those cards as well.

Well now that you've seen the party, here is the beautiful mommy-to-be opening gifts!

I love you, sweet sister, and I can't wait to meet my nephew! (Now you just need to pick a name, haha!) I hope you enjoyed this party as much as I enjoyed hosting it! :)
